WHAM Call For Artists

NEW juried show at WHAM art Gallery for August 2021 is Visions in Poetry. Entries of artwork shall depict a poem. The challenge is to create artwork that fits a particular poem or a line from a poem. Deadline to enter is by July 11, 2021. Visit Wham website for details for Call to artists.

From WHAM Gallery Coordinator, Diane Freeman:  A tip for artists about framing your beautiful, finished paintings- When visitors come in to view artwork, as artists, we want to make sure that our work shines above the frame around it.  Sometimes decorative, colorful frames are what the viewer notices first instead of your painting.  Instead of this happening, make sure that the frame you choose will only be noticed after the viewer has thoroughly enjoyed exploring the beauty of your finished piece of art.

If you have ever thought about entering a gallery show stop by and talk to Diane Freeman or contact her at diane.freeman@wham-art.org for information about gallery rental.

our inventory this period. Remember our next Gift Shop & Art Exchange takes place Sunday, July 11th and Monday, July 12th from 10am-1pm while the gallery is closed. We look forward to seeing you then! Contact Heather Young at WHAM for more information.

Also, if anyone is interested in volunteering to help with the hanging every 2 months contact Linda Stahl 623-505-8605 or linda.stahl@wham-art.org

About the Gift Shop Featured Artist:

Who can participate? WHAM Members in good standing who have paid all dues and have their volunteer hours in. You may contact Gaylia Young by email at gaylia.young@wham-art.org to find out what volunteer opportunities there are.

What is the benefit of being a Featured Artist? The Featured Artist may bring in more than the 10 artistic pieces and/or 10 greeting cards.

Where should you expect your work to be displayed? This will most likely be determined by what items you are bringing in as well as what has been submitted by others. The Featured Artist and their items promoted on WHAM's social media accounts.

When will this take place? Beginning NOW, sign up at the Front desk at WHAM. Other Questions regarding the Gift Shop Featured Artist? Contact Heather Young by phone at 480-815-2421 or email at heather.young@wham-art.org.

The bird will have a second life as part of the Alice in Wonderland themed art exhibit at the West Valley Art Museum at Peoria City Hall in 2022.Then it will be auctioned off as a fundraising for the Peoria Theater Works.
